The release of Avicii‘s new single, Forever Yours (Tim’s 2016 Ibiza Version), has reignited the debate surrounding posthumous releases. While fans are torn between the joy of rediscovering their idol’s music and the fear of seeing his work manipulated, one voice in particular has been heard: that of Sandro Cavazza.

A long-time collaborator of Avicii, Sandro Cavazza did not hesitate to publicly express his disagreement with the choice of this track and the motivations behind its release. According to him, Forever Yours should never have been released as a single. He would have preferred this version, recorded during Avicii‘s last show at Ushuaïa Ibiza in 2016, to be included in a full live album of this concert.

For Sandro Cavazza, this release is contrary to Avicii‘s wishes, who, according to him, was the only one to decide when his songs were finished. He believes that this version was not intended to be a single and that its release as it stands is a lack of respect towards the artist and his creative process.

This controversy once again raises the question of the ethics surrounding posthumous releases. How to reconcile the desire to keep the work of a deceased artist alive and the respect of his wishes? Where is the line between tribute and exploitation? So many questions that deserve to be asked.

The reaction of Sandro Cavazza, a respected figure in the world of electronic music, sheds new light on this controversy. His testimony, full of emotion and sincerity, highlights the tensions that exist around these posthumous projects.

While some fans are delighted to be able to hear new music from Avicii, others are worried about seeing his musical legacy potentially.
